The Future I-160 detected a crashed fighter plane from World War II in the heart of London. No other metal detector, geophysical instrument or ground penetrating radar which was used for this investigation was able to locate the hidden parts of the plane. But the geophysical instrument Future I... More

ive been in one of the flying hurricanes but i was 3 or 4 and cant remember but they have always been my favourite plane
Flasdingleray Says:
sorry but I find this slightly wasteful of road and money, I know the importance of the Hurricane, but is it not better to remember it by with the intact ones that still remain instead of a pile of rust. No doubt I sound mean or something I just think its natural for things to deteriorate, nothings forever, especially something so far gone?
alanheath Says:
@Johnny69M Now I remember! Isn't there a scene in the film Battle of Britain like this?
alanheath Says:
@Johnny69M Definitely agree that I hope that there will be no more wars!
Johnny69M Says:
@alanheath also i believe the German version of the Norden bombsight - the Carl Zeiss lotfe 7 was'nt issued to the luftwaffe until late 1941 + they like the British really just crossed their fingers + hoped that their bombs would land on good targets. it was'nt unknown for a totally wrong town etc being bombed by mistake. Anyways lets hope we never have a WW3
Johnny69M Says:
@alanheath Full respect to ALL the veterans but i do think this is a good story thats been embellished, the targeting was terrible + bombing within 5 to 10 miles of the target was classed as a success then + a plane anywhere in that vicinity could be said to be aimed at some point of interest. This story has more holes than a sieve + i again emphasise maximum respect to the English + the German pilot but i doubt it was targetting Buck. Palace sorry if that bursts anyones bubble.
alanheath Says:
I seem to remember reading about this Hurricane in some comic in the early 1970s.
alanheath Says:
@Johnny69M Yes, it would have been extremely difficult to hit a target as small as Buckingham Palace with the technology that existed then. As the RAF and USAAF discovered, it was hard enough to find a city in a bomber 'plane.
crassazell Says:
Ginger Lacey took out the bomber that hit Buckingham palace, he finished the war as the number 1 ace for Britain
Johnny69M Says:
all conjecture. Buckingham palace only once ever had any damage and that was very minor and it was'nt even the target. I'm sorry but the more i look into this i think everything happened as described bar the it was headed for Buckingham Palace but regardless respects to ALL the veterans.
Johnny69M Says:
I struggle to understand with how inaccurate heavy bombers were then and it being more than half a mile away and maybe more as its not known where they where exactly when they collided that anyone could tell it was headed for Buckingham Palace and seeing as the German pilots are dead and thus cant refute it, me thinks this was a WW2 morale boosting piece of propaganda for the home front and before the hate starts i'm not taking anything away from the Hurricane pilot or his bravery but this is
DavBlc7 Says:
@crashland123 Seems he run out of bullets and that may be why he had to ram it.
