Library of Congress film archives most of the audio is poorly dubbed. The biplane off the top is a movie stunt, I just liked it, and so I threw it in. At 6:08, was that a Japaneese Betty with the gear down, on fire? This is an exellent post. Maybe 50% of these, I've never seen before. Fantastic footage! Well done, Shuri.
MrJapaneseboy1111 Says:
1:10 excelent pilot !
Boutiquez Says:
Yeah, I'd say he was trying to kill the guy in the chute. Also interesting to note the footage of pilots continuing to shoot at planes that are already clearly done. War seems to bring out the best and worst in us it would seem.
MusicProjectX Says:
Your comment on gun camera footage only rolling when the guns are firing is correct-gun cameras are the very first examples of what we know today as security cameras. Even thought most pilots were perfectly honest about what they did-or did not-shoot down, witnesses were a necessity for proof. The gun camera was used to provide this proof. While German, British, and US forces all used them, it was most significant for the USAF, since scoring a certain number of confirmed kills was a ticket home.

Great footage! Remember those air crew got out of a warm bed at 2:00 AM and climbed into a frozen plane for most missions. My kindle book, crash of JFK, JR link is at my kindle books

Me too!
thebullmck Says:
It looks that way, but I doubt that he did it on purpose, flying into a parachute at a couple of hundred mph could do a lot of damage a planes structure and propeller. I don't think the pilot would risk disabling his aircraft. It would be easier to shoot at it.
harlickbalham Says:
Mate, he did. The plane was an He111 and it happened during the Battle of Britain. The account I read said he was suffering from 'nervous shock' when he was captured. I'm not surprised. He got out by the skin of his teeth and his comrades died.
MrKadvoleak Says:
Have a look at 3:21-3:22 the pilot goes straight for the guy with the parachute, thats horrible!!
themuffinman12345 Says:
Man, war is destructive!
Boutiquez Says:
Funny the way people tend to keep shooting even when the enemy aircraft is clearly on fire and out of control. People just don't seem able to resist. Human nature I guess.
creamtt Says:
IMO it appears that a bomb that was released from a B17 above went right through the wing, only my opinion.
creamtt Says:
At 3.07 a guy can be seen exiting the bomber very close to the ground, i wonder if he lived, hope this hero did.
13jam100 Says:
at 203 in the video ive always wondered is that flak that blows that left wing off the b17 ?
lulu8332 Says:
the gun cam footage flying towards the guy in the parachute looks like a rare glimps of the late war pracis of some allied pilots.in order to get rid of the highly experinced german aces (who kept flying even after being wounded 2-3 times or missing limps) cource even tho they were outnumbered atleast 5:1 they still shoot down a decent number of allied planes..it`s very clear to see that this discusting taktic worked.look at the last 8 monts of war .notice also shooting at a crashing plane....

"61" is in the states. its got to be a training F-model. Pilot is properly"getting as much gear down as possible" 61 is probably a "buzz number" 2:50 is the states. 3:50 is Japanese. they had unarmored un self-sealing fuel tanks and really burned. 5:20 B-24s never had sucessful belly landings
lukewilliams010 Says:
last thing you want is your aircraft to fall upside down whilst your still all strapped in
Boutiquez Says:
No, just very heavy flak and poorly protected fuel tanks.
Boutiquez Says:
Yeah, he would have been trying to kill him in his chute. It was common apparently. It was, like most, a nasty, nasty war.
rick6393 Says:
8:52 wow .as he uncovers his eyes, I am still in one piece
Sessholvlaru Says:
@ru36iscoming That was two A-12 Shrikes and both pilots died.
chpman2013 Says:
@XFreedom85fighterX I think he was tryin' to avoid him, but he was goin' too fast
101andrewj Says:
