The Fighting Lady: Life on a World War II Aircraft Carrier - Documentary (1944)

DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchived.blogspot.com The Fighting Lady (1944) is a documentary/propaganda film produced by the US Navy. The plot of the film revolves around the life of seamen on board an anonymous aircraft carrier. Because of war time restrictions, the name of the aircraft carrier was disguised as "the Fighting Lady"; afterwards the ship's true name became public - she was the USS Yorktown (CV-10). Frequently mentioned is the old adage that war is 99% waiting. The first half or so of the film is taken up with examining the mundane details of life on board the aircraft carrier as she sails through the Panama Canal and into the Pacific Ocean, finally seeing action at Marcus Island {attacked in 1943}. The film provides aerial views of a series of airstrikes at Japanese bases in the Pacific theatre. Following an attack on Kwajalein in early 1944, intelligence reports that an armada of Japanese ships is massing near Truk, a major Japanese logistical base in the Carolines. The Fighting Lady and some of her task force are sent on a "hit and run" mission to neutralize it and return to Marcus, but not to attempt a landing. Once the ship returns from the massive, two-day Truk raid, it is then sent to the waters off the Marianas and participates in the famous Marianas 'turkey shoot'. At the very end some of the servicemen who appeared in the film are reintroduced to us, and the narrator informs us that they have died in battle. The film is notable for its use of <b>...</b>

Tags: aircraft carrier charles boyer robert taylor william wyler edward steichen john s. martin eugene ling joseph j. clark dixie kiefer panama canal aviation propaganda military combat footage north pacific navy airplane accident world war 2 funeral at sea wwii uss yorktown terror documentary geographic air force space tough guys world war hypnosis russia science mind control

TARGET FOR TODAY - 1944 - US 8th Army Air force during World War Two

The 8th Bomber Command (8th Army Air Force), stationed in England, prepares for and executes a daylight precision bombing mission on several German cities, including Brandenburg, Danzig, Goynia, and Marienburg. This docu-drama was filmed on location with the men of the 8th Air Force acting out their real life roles in the war. Some of the scenes shown are: Animated maps locate bombing targets. Technicians, particularly of Operational Research, study and outline the bombing mission. Oral and written orders follow high-level consultations on intelligence, operations, navigation, and bombing; bombs are loaded on airplanes. Crews of planes are awakened, eat breakfast, and begin extensive briefing on their missions. Crews arrive at air fields, receive final briefings, board planes, check equipment, and take off. The composition of a fighting "group" is described in detail. After being intercepted by German fighter planes, the bombers reach their targets and disburse for bombing runs. Targets are bombed and groups reassemble for the return to England. Planes land and crews are interrogated. Interrogation continues and information and combat photographs are utilized in upper-echelon critiques. Miscellaneous combat shots, as the narrator pays tribute to the Air Force.

Tags: bomber 1944 army air force airplanes aviation flying german luftwaffe wwii world war two ww2 germany history war movies world war two movies world at war The World At War Documentary world war two documentary Why we fight us air force in action USAF army military

But the program also exposes the frantic, top-secret programs to produce weapons that would have made these legendary planes seem tame by comparison. With the help of some of the world's foremost aviation historians, HISTORY UNDERCOVER® reveals how, at the end of the war, Japan was close to unveiling a new generation of rocket and jet-powered planes that could have turned the tide of the conflict.

Tags: world war II fighter aircraft secret airplane warbird jet engine navy

Competing against Douglas and Martin for a contract to build 200 bombers, the Boeing entry outperformed both competitors and more than met the Air Corps' expectations. Although Boeing lost the contract because the prototype crashed, the Air Corps was so impressed with Boeing's design that they ordered 13 more B-17s for further evaluation. From its introduction in 1938, the B-17 Flying Fortress evolved through numerous design advances. The B-17 was primarily employed by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) in the daylight precision strategic bombing campaign of World War II against German industrial and military targets. The United States Eighth Air Force based at Thorpe Abbotts airfield in England and the Fifteenth Air Force based in Italy complemented the RAF Bomber Command's nighttime area bombing in Operation Pointblank to help secure air superiority over the cities, factories and battlefields of Western Europe in preparation for Operation Overlord.[4] The B-17 also participated to a lesser extent in the War in the Pacific where it conducted raids against Japanese shipping and airfields. From its pre-war inception, the USAAC (later USAAF) touted the aircraft as a strategic weapon; it was a potent, high-flying, long-range bomber that was able to defend itself, and to return home despite extensive battle damage.
SEPTEMBER CLUES EPILOGUE (NEW)

The SEPTEMBER CLUES website: www.septemberclues.info The SEPTEMBER CLUES forum www.cluesforum.info On 9 the US TV networks used computer generated sceneries of Manhattan. Multiple techniques of image manipulation were employed to simulate "airplanes crashing into the World Trade Center". We now have conclusive evidence that the TV networks were proactively complicit in staging this false-flag operation needed to gather public consensus to wage immensely profitable, illegal wars. The forensic analysis of the live images leave no room for doubt : they do not depict authentic imagery nor real airplane crashes but turn out to be entirely doctored video sequences which effectively fooled the worldwide TV audience. Thus, the live broadcasts now stored in the major TV networks' archives, constitute the most solid, verifiable and repeatable proof to expose the falseness of the official version of the 9/11 tragedy. The subsequently released, so-called "amateur" videos were more sophisticated video composites yet all have now been exposed for what they are : total forgeries. Most likely, electromagnetic technology (commonly used in war zones (to jam electronic circuitries) prevented any private footage being recorded at the time of the tower strikes. Scores of testimonies confirm that cellphones or firefighters' walkie-talkies did not function properly in NYC that day. Most on-the-scene witnesses reported a SMALL aircraft of some sort : Arguably, what they saw was a winged missile <b>...</b>

Tags: 9/11 911 television news septemberclues september 11 tv fakery cnn fox cbs nbc abc bbc wtc bush shoes crime crash hate love no war planes hoax dogs cats boys girls commercial free

ONE NEWS First Aired: November 20, 2007 HOST Tina Lemazi: Solomon Islands is known overseas for the role it played in the second world war. It was here in Solomon Islands that the Americans turned back the Japanese advance in the Pacific. The Solomons Islands played a pivotal role in the war and its remnants have dotted the landscape throughout the country. But a move to sell war relics from Shortlands overseas has raised concerns. Two weeks ago, with the approval of government, the chiefs of FAMOA were paid 50000 SI$ and signed off on a deal with an overseas buyer to sell their relics overseas. Owen Talo with more: Owen Talo, Nila Village (in tok pidgin): One News Camera, is now at Nila village, Shortlands Islands for a special happening. The Minister of Tourism and a delegation of two officers and the minister of tourism all have come to Nila village Shortlands, for signing a very important something in terms of removing all the war wreckage of shortland, especially at Nila, is the story I received. FAMOA, stands for Farou, Mono and Alu [Islands in Shortlands]. All form one council of chiefs, where everyone has signed for taking out war relics. Many of those remains from the war are from Shortlands Harbor and also here in one hanger of Japan where airplanes remain this time. The time we arrived, a big signing ceremony happened where everyone agreed to remove every relic from the Shortlands. This is a setback for tourism of this country. Frequent purges represented a constant threat. Yet, in spite of the ever-present danger, Soviet aircraft designers mastered technical hurdles astonishing even by today's standards. This hour features extensive archive images of never-before-seen aircraft and the designers who brought them to life. The innovative aircraft profiled include a swept-wing Delta aircraft design; a rocket-powered fighter; a long distance fixed-wing aircraft with features later incorporated in the U-2 spyplane; a flying tank prototype; a submarine-bomber combination; and a canard-wing aircraft. And we highlight remarkable aircraft launched after Stalin's death in 1953, like the delta-winged supersonic Concordski and the world's largest plane, the Antonov 124 Ruslan.

Tags: Secret Russian Aircraft World War II dogfight air combat airplane history Soviet
